Thank you for your interest in the Sig Sauer FFDOA Commemorative Pistol, the first firearm ever commissioned to honor the Federal Flight Deck Officers!
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE, it should answer all your questions about the FFDOA Commemorative Pistol sales program.
The FFDOA Commemorative Pistol is a Sig Sauer P-226 in .40 S&W caliber. Each pistol will come with three 10 round magazines, factory night sights, and the FFDOA logo engraved on the top of the slide, in front of the rear sight.  The purchaser will have the option to choose from either a short reset Double Action / Single Action (SRT) trigger system, or a Double Action Only (DAK) trigger system.  A special FFDOA Commemorative Certificate will be available through FFDOA after the sale, but the certificate will not ship with the pistol.
The engraved pistol (either SRT or DAK version) will cost $795, plus state sales tax, where applicable.  Sig Sauer is required to collect state sales tax for items shipping to the following states: AZ, CA, FL, HI, IL, IN, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA.  This sales tax will be automatically calculated on your invoice if applicable to you.
The purchaser will be required to pay appropriate local fees to the FFL Dealer who receives and transfers the gun to the FFDO.  This may include dealer transfer, registration and background check fees.
The purchaser will choose an FFL Dealer to receive the gun during the ordering process.  All FFL Dealers on the FFDOA IOP Master Ship-To List will be available to choose from.
Acceptable forms of payment are Visa, MasterCard or American Express.  Payments are withdrawn from your account immediately & PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.  This is SOP for all Commemorative purchases.
All orders will be placed via a special web portal, managed by Sig Sauer.  The program order and payment period is July 1, 2012 – August 15, 2012.  The portal will close at the end of business (EST) and will not re-open.

Here is the link for the payment portal.  On the Web go to:
Reference Code is FFDOA638545
Once the information is complete & the submit button is clicked (please only click once as refunds take several weeks to process) a confirmation page will come up.  Print it.  This is your proof of purchase.
**Please make sure to hold on to a copy of your receipt.  You will be asked to present your receipt when you pick up your pistol.  There is a $25 administration fee for resending lost receipts. **
Those living in Massachusetts will not be able to participate as the pistol does not meet the requirements set by the state. We apologize for the inconvenience.

When the web portal closes and the order period is complete, Sig Sauer will compile the orders, build the pistols, and prepare them for shipment.  All pistols will be shipped at the same time when the production is complete. Standard production time for a commemorative order is 90-120 days.  (Est. shipping month December)
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE FACTORY FOR INFORMATION ON YOUR ORDER. Contact  Sig Sauer representative Greg Foster at with any questions. Information will also be provided periodically on the FFDOA website.

The payment portal is scheduled to be shut down on Aug 15, 2012 and at that time production will begin (generally complete 90-120 days after portal closes).

Thank you for choosing Sig Sauer!  We are excited to work with FFDOA on this special project!

Greg Foster – Federal Agencies Sales Manager

Q1.  Why did you not choose an H&K pistol?
A1.   H&K did not want to work with us, but Sig Sauer was eager to.

Q2.  Can retired FFDOs participate?
A2.  Yes!

Q3.  Why 10 round magazines instead of the normal 12 round magazines?
A3.  The Sig Sauer Commemorative Shop was not able to accommodate a large number of variations for logistical purposes.  It was important to FFDOA to offer a choice of trigger systems to the purchaser (DA/SA or DA Only) to satisfy the widest range of interests in this gun.  Because there were already two variations of the gun, the Sig Sauer Commemorative Shop was unable to add additional options for guns with normal and state-compliant magazines.  We at FFDOA feel that this tradeoff was worth it.  Gaining a choice in trigger systems was an advantage that we wanted to retain.  If a purchaser is interested in obtaining normal (12 round) capacity magazines for his pistol, they can be purchased at discount through the FFDOA Sig Sauer IOP Discount Program. See the FFDOA Sig Sauer Discount Page for details.

Q4:  Is a special holster available for this gun?
A4:  FFDOA is currently working with a manufacturer to determine if a suitable holster with the FFDOA logo can be developed for a reasonable cost.  This determination will be made after the order window closes and the number of pistols sold can be determined.
Q5:  None of the approved FFL Dealers are close to me.  Can I ship it to someone else?
A5:  The pistols must be shipped to a Sig Sauer approved Direct Dealer, as selected from the dropdown menu on the website portal when you place your order.  These approved dealers are also listed on the FFDOA IOP Master Ship-To List, which is available on the FFDOA website on the Sig Sauer Discount page.  In the event that none of the approved dealers on the dropdown menu are close to your home, you have two options.  The first option is to ship to one of the approved dealers, then coordinate with them to ship the pistol to another FFL Dealer that is closer to your home (you will pay any costs associated with the additional transfer).  The second option is to ask Sig Sauer to review your local FFL Dealer for approval as a Direct Dealer.  Not every FFL Dealer who sells Sig Sauer products will meet the criteria to be a Direct Dealer with Sig Sauer.  However, if your local FFL Dealer meets the criteria, they will be added to the FFDOA IOP Master Ship-To List as an approved dealer.  Coordinate with Greg Foster at Sig Sauer for inquiries of this type at
Q6:  What is the MSRP for the same gun?
A6:  The MSRP for the commercial model of this gun is $1,106, but that only includes 2 magazines and no engraving.  Your pistol will ship with 3 magazines and the engraved logo.  At $795, this is a sizable discount over MSRP, and only an $11 premium over the IOP cost for a pistol without the logo.
Q7:  Why can't the pistols be shipped to MA residents?
A7:  Massachusetts law requires manufacturers to obtain approval to ship firearms into the state.  This approval is granted based on the part number assigned by the manufacturer to the firearm.  The FFDO Commemorative Pistol will have a part number which is different than the standard P-226, and this part number is not approved by Massachusetts.  It is too costly for Sig Sauer to obtain Massachusetts' approval for the FFDO Commemorative Pistol part number, due to the low volume of pistols involved. Sig Sauer regrets the situation, but is required to follow all state laws.
